Carol Spindel teaches nonfiction writing at the University of Illinois and the Iowa Summer Writing Festival. She is the author of In the Shadow of the Sacred Grove and Dancing at Halftime: Sports and the Controversy Over American Indian Mascots. A native Memphian, she now lives in Urbana, Illinois.
