Steve Yarbrough has a short story collection called Veneer coming out in September. (The title story first appeared in the OA.) Apparently, Mr. Yarbrough’s “Beam Me Back” performance did not completely stop his folks from trying to find a place for him onstage. “They briefly toyed with the notion of making me a movie star,” he says. “And I recall that we made some effort to get onto the set of The Reivers when they were filming it in the nearby town of Carrollton, but we were thwarted by a deputy sheriff.”
