Charles Hughes teaches at Rhodes College in Memphis. He is the author of two books, Country Soul: Making Music and Making Race in the American South and Why Bushwick Bill Matters, as well as many articles. He’s co-editor of the American Music Series at University of Texas Press, a regular contributor to the Teaching Hard History podcast, and a voting member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
