Katie Jane Fernelius is a journalist, writer, and creative producer living in New Orleans. She currently works as a senior reporter for Verite News, where she covers the local government. As an independent journalist, she’s reported for multiple outlets, including the Guardian, the Nation, the Assembly, the Appeal, In These Times, and others. She’s also produced multiple podcast series and documentaries, including a radio feature for the BBC World Service and Sundance about a private city in Lagos, Nigeria. Her most recent project was the documentary series A Field Guide to Gay Animals, which was an official selection of the 2024 Tribeca Festival.
