Robert F. Darden is a master teacher and emeritus professor of Journalism, Public Relations & New Media at Baylor University. He is the author of more than two dozen books, most recently Soon and Very Soon: The Transformative Music and Ministry of Andraé Crouch for Oxford University Press (March 2025), co-authored with Dr. Stephen Newby. He is the founder of the Black Gospel Music Preservation Program at Baylor, the world’s largest initiative to acquire, digitize, catalogue, and make accessible America’s fast-vanishing legacy of gospel music. His earliest memory is listening to Mahalia Jackson’s Christmas album.
